Ravnica Remastered (set code RVR) is an all-reprint set that brings the ten guilds of Ravnica together in one booster draft environment. Scryfall dates its release to January 12, 2024, and Wizards of the Coast's "Collecting Ravnica Remastered" article gives the same date. This guide covers the official booster contents, the guild mechanics as the Comprehensive Rules define them, and counts we computed from the card list, with our counting rules stated.

The set in numbers

Wizards' collecting article states: "Ravnica Remastered contains 292 cards: 111 commons, 90 uncommons, 71 rares, and 20 mythic rares." Scryfall's list of distinct booster cards for RVR (collector numbers 1 to 291) contains 110 commons, 90 uncommons, 71 rares and 20 mythic rares; our draft simulator's card file matches that list name for name and rarity for rarity. Every count in this article uses those 291 cards.

The set has no basic lands. In Wizards' words: "There are no basic lands in Ravnica Remastered; the basic land slot in Draft Boosters has been replaced with a mana slot". Our count of the 291 cards agrees: zero basic lands.

The commons and uncommons divide evenly by color:

GroupCommonsUncommons
Each single color (white, blue, black, red, green)16 each9 each
Each two-color guild pair (ten pairs)2 each3 each
Colorless10 (the ten Guildgates)15 (ten Signets plus five other artifacts)

Colors here are the cards' Oracle colors, so a hybrid card such as a Guildmage counts as two-color. Ten of the 20 two-color commons have hybrid mana costs, one in each guild pair, and all ten Guildmages are hybrid uncommons. There are no commons or uncommons with three or more colors.

Of the 110 commons, 61 are creatures. By mana value those creatures break down as 10 at one, 19 at two, 13 at three, 9 at four, 4 at five and 6 at six or more.

What is in a Draft Booster

Wizards lists the full contents of a Ravnica Remastered Draft Booster as:

  • "8–10 Commons"
  • "3–4 Uncommons"
  • "1 Rare or mythic rare"
  • "1 Mana slot card" (58% Guildgate, 33% Signet, 9% "Chromatic Lantern or a shock land")
  • "1 Retro frame card of any rarity"
  • "1 Token/ad card"

The article adds that "A traditional foil card of any rarity replaces a common in 33% of Draft Boosters."

Wizards introduces the slot with "Ravnica Remastered begins with a twist!" Co-lead designer Carmen Klomparens explains in "Designing Ravnica Remastered" that players "were more comfortably prioritizing cool spells over mana fixing early, because they knew there were going to be at least 24 pieces of mana fixing at every table." That figure matches one mana slot per booster at a table of eight drafters opening three boosters each (8 × 3 = 24). Applying Wizards' rounded percentages to those 24 boosters, and treating each booster as independent, a table expects about 13.92 Guildgates, 7.92 Signets and 2.16 copies of Chromatic Lantern or a shock land, and the chance that at least one of the 24 slots is a Chromatic Lantern or a shock land is 89.60%.

Some cards are kept out of Draft Boosters on purpose. Wizards names 21 retro frame cards that "exclusively appear" in Collector Boosters, among them Pack Rat, Rest in Peace and Supreme Verdict, saying "Some of these cards are either too weak or too powerful for Limited." None of the 21 is among Scryfall's main-set numbers 1 to 291. Pack Rat has one exception: Wizards says "The borderless anime version of Pack Rat is available in both Draft Boosters and Collector Boosters." That variant is not part of the 291-card list, so our simulator and our counts do not include it.

Ten guilds, 26 mechanics

The design article says the team "were able to fit 26 out of a possible 29 mechanics into the set" and names the three left out: undergrowth and cipher, plus radiance. We searched the Oracle text of all 291 cards (reminder text removed) for 29 guild mechanic names. The same 26 appear, and undergrowth, cipher and radiance each match zero cards. Rule references are to the Comprehensive Rules effective September 25, 2026; addendum, hellbent, bloodrush and battalion are ability words, which rule 207.2c says "have no special rules meaning," so their row describes the RVR cards' own text.

How the guilds are built

The design article gives each guild a plan, for example: "Azorius is tempo-beatdown!"; "Dimir is good ol'-fashioned blue-black control!"; "Golgari's always been about the graveyard"; "Simic is going to evolve and adapt all its creatures for any situation."

It also explains a deliberate push toward two-color decks: "indexing a bit higher on pip-intensive uncommons," because, in the article's words, such cards are "quite hard to splash." The card list bears this out. Ten uncommons cost four colored mana symbols, exactly one per guild pair: Conclave Cavalier, Crackling Drake, Debt to the Deathless, Frilled Mystic, Golgari Findbroker, Nightveil Predator, Rakdos Firewheeler, Sphinx of New Prahv, Sunder Shaman and Truefire Captain. The article names Sunder Shaman as one of the four-pip uncommons "included from the beginning with this explicit goal in mind." By our count, 84 of the 110 commons have exactly one colored symbol in their cost.

Removal: what we counted and how

Removal counts depend entirely on the definition, so here is ours. A common or uncommon counts as removal if its Oracle text, with reminder text removed, does at least one of these:

  • destroys or exiles a target creature, or a target that can be a creature (such as "artifact or creature");
  • deals damage to a target creature, to any target, or to each creature (including damage equal to a creature's power);
  • gives a target or enchanted creature -N/-N with a toughness reduction of at least 1, or gives all creatures -N/-N;
  • makes creatures fight;
  • is an Aura saying the enchanted creature or permanent "can't attack or block";
  • makes an opponent or each player sacrifice a creature.

Bounce, detain and tap effects are not counted, and neither are effects that can destroy only noncreature permanents (artifacts, enchantments or lands). A two-color card counts once in each of its colors. Under these rules 29 commons and uncommons qualify (14 commons, 15 uncommons):

ColorCommonUncommonTotal
Black6814
Red5712
White224
Green213
Blue011
Colorless022

The cards, so the count can be checked line by line:

The count includes conditional cards (Summary Judgment needs a tapped creature, Devouring Light an attacking or blocking one), small pings such as Footlight Fiend's 1 damage, symmetrical effects such as Plaguecrafter, and Voyager Staff, which exiles a creature only until the next end step. Blue's single entry reflects the definition, not a lack of interaction: blue's Repeal returns a nonland permanent with mana value X to its owner's hand and Downsize gives -4/-0, and both fall outside our rules.

Boros in Ravnica Remastered

The design article sums the guild up: "Boros is here to assemble an army and use it. Battalion asks you to play a bunch of small creatures early so you can attack with them, and mentor ensures that even the smallest soldiers grow into the middle and late game."

Battalion appears on three commons, each with a different effect. Boros Elite ({W}, 1/1) gets +2/+2, Makeshift Battalion ({2}{W}, 3/2) gets a +1/+1 counter, and Bomber Corps ({1}{R}, 1/2) deals 1 damage to any target, each "Whenever this creature and at least two other creatures attack." Mentor appears at common on Wojek Bodyguard ({2}{R}, 3/3, "can't attack or block alone") and at uncommon on Sunhome Stalwart ({1}{W}, 2/2 first strike) and Truefire Captain ({R}{R}{W}{W}, 4/3). Per rule 702.134a, mentor targets an attacking creature "with power less than this creature’s power," so a mentor creature can only grow a smaller attacker.

The red-white cards at common and uncommon are Fresh-Faced Recruit ({1}{R/W}, 2/1, first strike during your turn), Skyknight Legionnaire ({1}{R}{W}, 2/2 flying, haste), Boros Guildmage ({R/W}{R/W}), Lightning Helix and Truefire Captain. Lightning Helix ({R}{W}, uncommon) reads: "Lightning Helix deals 3 damage to any target and you gain 3 life."

Boros Charm is not in this set. A Scryfall search for it in RVR returns no cards; its first printing was Gatecrash, dated February 1, 2013.

No 17Lands data for this set

We checked 17Lands' public data. On October 2, 2026, its public list of expansions contained no RVR entry, and its card-ratings endpoint returned an empty list for RVR. We have no win-rate data for this set, so this guide quotes none and ranks no cards.

Practice the format

Our Ravnica Remastered draft simulator uses the same 291 cards counted here, and the hypergeometric calculator gives the odds of drawing a specific card by a given turn.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Boros Charm in Ravnica Remastered?

No. A Scryfall search for Boros Charm in the Ravnica Remastered set (code RVR) returns no cards, and Scryfall lists its first printing as Gatecrash, dated February 1, 2013. Lightning Helix, a red-white uncommon that deals 3 damage to any target and gains you 3 life, is in the set.

Do Ravnica Remastered Draft Boosters contain basic lands?

No. Wizards says there are no basic lands in Ravnica Remastered and that the basic land slot was replaced with a mana slot. Wizards gives that slot's odds as 58% Guildgate, 33% Signet and 9% Chromatic Lantern or a shock land.

Is there 17Lands win-rate data for Ravnica Remastered?

We found none. On October 2, 2026, the 17Lands public expansion list contained no RVR entry and its card-ratings endpoint returned an empty list for RVR. This guide therefore quotes no win rates and does not rank cards.

When was Ravnica Remastered released?

January 12, 2024. Scryfall dates the set's cards to January 12, 2024, and Wizards' Collecting Ravnica Remastered article says the set releases on January 12, 2024.

Can Pack Rat be opened in a Ravnica Remastered Draft Booster?

Only the borderless anime version. Wizards says the default frame Pack Rat is not included in Ravnica Remastered products, the retro frame version appears only in Collector Boosters, and the borderless anime version is available in both Draft Boosters and Collector Boosters.
