MTG Triomes — Complete Guide
A triome is a land with three basic land types. It taps for any of its three colors, always enters tapped, and has cycling {3}. There are ten: five from Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths (2020) for the wedge color combinations and five from Streets of New Capenna (2022) for the shards. Because each one is a Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain or Forest three times over, nine of the ten fetch lands can find any given triome.

Triomes by Color Combination
Shards (Streets of New Capenna): Esper: Raffine's Tower, Bant: Spara's Headquarters, Grixis: Xander's Lounge, Naya: Jetmir's Garden, Jund: Ziatora's Proving Ground.
Wedges (Ikoria): Jeskai: Raugrin Triome, Mardu: Savai Triome, Abzan: Indatha Triome, Sultai: Zagoth Triome, Temur: Ketria Triome.
What a Triome Does
Every triome has the same rules text apart from its colors. Savai Triome, for example, reads: “({T}: Add {R}, {W}, or {B}.) This land enters tapped. Cycling {3}.” The mana ability is reminder text: it comes from the three basic land types, which is what sets triomes apart from older three-color lands.
- Fetch lands find them. Any fetch land that names one of a triome’s three types can get it (table below). So can type-searching spells: Nature’s Lore and Three Visits find any triome with the Forest type, and Farseek finds any triome that has a Plains, Island, Swamp or Mountain type.
- Basic-only searchers do not. Evolving Wilds, Prismatic Vista and Cultivate search for a basic land card, and a triome is not basic.
- Cycling {3}. Late in the game you can pay three and discard the triome to draw a card instead of playing an extra land.
- Always tapped. There is no condition that lets a triome enter untapped. Older three-color lands such as Arcane Sanctum or Sandsteppe Citadel also enter tapped, but they have no land types and no cycling.
Which Fetch Lands Find Each Triome
Each fetch land searches for one of two basic land types. A triome has three of the five types, so the only fetch land that misses it is the one naming the two types it lacks.
| Triome | Colors | Fetch lands that find it | The one that can’t |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raffine's Tower | Esper | 9 of 10 | Wooded Foothills |
| Spara's Headquarters | Bant | 9 of 10 | Bloodstained Mire |
| Xander's Lounge | Grixis | 9 of 10 | Windswept Heath |
| Jetmir's Garden | Naya | 9 of 10 | Polluted Delta |

All ten triomes, from both sets, are legal in Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage and Commander. None is legal in Standard or Pauper.
Strategy
In three-color Modern and Pioneer decks, one or two triomes give fetch lands a target that covers every color at once; the tapped entry is the cost, and cycling makes a late copy useful. In Commander the slower pace makes the tapped entry cheap. Color identity limits which triomes a deck can play: a three-color deck has exactly one triome in its colors, a four-color deck has four, and a five-color deck can run all ten. Use the Mana Base Calculator to see how many tapped lands your curve can afford.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are triomes fetchable?
Yes. Triomes have three basic land types. Indatha Triome is a Plains Swamp Forest. Any fetch land that searches for one of those types can find it. This is what makes triomes so powerful in three-color decks with fetch lands.
Which triomes are Pioneer legal?
All ten. Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths and Streets of New Capenna are both Pioneer sets, so every triome is legal in Pioneer, as well as in Modern, Legacy, Vintage and Commander. None is legal in Standard.
How many triomes are there?
Ten: one for each three-color combination. The five Ikoria triomes cover the wedges (Abzan, Jeskai, Mardu, Sultai, Temur) and the five Streets of New Capenna triomes cover the shards (Bant, Esper, Grixis, Jund, Naya).
Have triomes been reprinted?
Not in a regular set as of October 2026. Beyond their original printings there are prerelease and promo versions, and Jetmir's Garden and Ketria Triome appeared on The List.
Can Evolving Wilds find a triome?
No. Evolving Wilds, Prismatic Vista and Cultivate search for a basic land card, and triomes are not basic. Fetch lands such as Polluted Delta can, because they search for a land type rather than a basic land.
